Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about pool deck materials and installation in Florida

What is the best pool deck material for Florida homes?+
In Florida's heat and humidity, the most popular choices are concrete color coating (like Color Seal H2Cool), brick pavers, and natural stone. Concrete coating is the most affordable for existing decks. Brick pavers drain naturally and are easy to repair. Natural stone stays the coolest underfoot — ideal for South Florida summers.
What is pool coping and do I need it?+
Pool coping is the cap or edging that sits at the top of the pool wall — the transition piece between the water and the deck surface. It protects the pool shell, provides a safe non-slip edge, and finishes the look. If you're installing brick pavers, matching coping from the same manufacturer (Flagstone or Tremron) gives a clean, seamless finish.
What colors does Color Seal H2Cool come in?+
Color Seal H2Cool has 9 standard colors: Autumn Tan, Cabo Beach, Caribbean Cream, Graystone, Irish Cream, Natural, Ocean Sand, Oyster, and White. Additional special-order colors including Sunset, Deep Night, Beechwood, Mocca, and others are available on request.
What paver brands do you install?+
We install pavers from three manufacturers. Belgard offers the widest range — dozens of styles from classic cobble patterns to large-format modern slabs, many with 20-40 color options each. Flagstone Pavers is a Florida-based manufacturer known for classic rectangular brick patterns — models like Freedom, Commonwealth, Heritage, and Old Glory. Tremron offers modern and architectural styles — Monaco, Plank Pavers, Templehurst, and Ultra Combo. All three offer matching coping, including Belgard's Bullnose and Fountainhead profiles.
What is Carrara stone for pool decks?+
Carrara is a high-quality natural marble stone from Nova Tile. It comes in three surface finishes: Leather (brushed, non-reflective), Sandblasted (highest slip resistance — recommended for wet pool areas), and Tumbled (aged, rustic look). All finishes are available in standard and 2-inch thickness for extra durability.
Does concrete pool deck coating replace the whole slab?+
No — Color Seal H2Cool bonds directly to your existing concrete surface. It's a coating applied over the top, which means no demolition, no full replacement, and significantly less disruption. It's the most cost-effective way to refresh an aging concrete pool deck.
Do you install pool decks in Ocala, Orlando, Port St. Lucie and West Palm Beach?+
Yes. Cool Pool of Florida has four branches across the state: Ocala (352) 897-8972, Orlando (407) 801-6189, Port St. Lucie (772) 380-3988, and West Palm Beach (561) 725-9214. All branches handle full pool deck installation including concrete coatings, brick pavers, coping, and natural stone.
Can I mix brick pavers with natural stone coping?+
Coping and pavers do not have to be the same material — but they should be colour-coordinated. Many homeowners pair brick pavers with stone or tile coping for a custom look. Our team can advise on the best combination for your specific pool and yard during your free estimate.
