LED Pool Light Conversion

Replacing an old incandescent pool light with a color-changing LED system makes the light more energy-efficient and changes how the pool looks at night. The conversion is often done together with resurfacing or an equipment upgrade: see pool remodeling.

Safety: Bonding and the Electrical Code

A pool light sits in a metal niche under water, so its metal parts are tied into the pool's bonding system along with the pump, rails and the water itself. Read the details in our pool bonding and grounding guide.

Pool Lighting Questions

Can you replace the old light in my existing pool with LED?
Yes. LED lighting conversion is one of our remodeling services: we replace old incandescent pool lights with color-changing LED systems, which are more energy-efficient and look better after dark.
Do you install lights in a new pool?
Yes. On a new pool, the electrical work for the pump, heater and lighting is done during the plumbing and electrical stage of the installation.
Does a pool light need to be bonded?
Yes. The metal parts of light niches and fixtures are part of the pool bonding system required by the electrical code, and the pool fails electrical inspection without it.
Can I control the pool lights from my phone?
Yes, with an automation system. Pentair (IntelliCenter/ScreenLogic) and Jandy (iAquaLink) apps run the pump, heater, lights and salt system from your phone. Keeping the whole equipment pad on one brand keeps it in one app.
Where do you install pool lighting?
West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Call our West Palm Beach branch at (561) 725-9214 to check your address.
